About Us

Stop Act S. 447 is a political and educational initiative of the Polish-American community, which feels that congressional bill S.447 poses a true, existential threat to Poland. The Stop Act S. 447 is a continuation of the initiative Stop Act H.R. 1226. Both initiatives have spearheaded community-wide opposition to the anti-Polish media attacks and the anti-Polish congressional legislative agenda. Our task is to ensure that Act S. 447, signed by president Donald Trump on May 9, 2018 becomes null and void. Together, let’s fight media distortions of history and anti-Polish agenda.

What people say about World War II-era restitution claims?

  • It is wrong for the executive vice-president (of the Claims Conference) to earn annually the same as the compensation for several hundred former slave laborers. The moral authority of the leading Jewish organizations is gravely weakened by excessively high salaries for top officials.
    Dr Michael Pinto-Duschinsky
Advisor to British survivors in compensation claims
  • Over a period of almost 16 years, millions of dollars intended for Holocaust survivors “instead found its way into the pockets of corrupt employees of the Claims Conference and an elaborate network of fraudsters.
    Preet Bharara
former U.S. attorney for New York's Southern District
  • The absence of professional control systems (in Claims Conference)…constituted a key factor in enabling, and certainly in facilitating, the fraud.
    Shmuel Hollander
Former ombudsman of the Conference of Jewish Material Claims Against Germany
  • The richest Jewish foundation in the world (Claims Conference), has still failed to provide adequate financial assistance to elderly and sick Holocaust survivors who live in abject poverty in the twilight of their lives. An organization which boasts that it currently holds in trust $900 million in assets, yet fails to rectify such a condition, must be held accountable for one of the greatest scandals in contemporary Jewish life
    Isi Leibler
Former chairman of the Governing Board of the World Jewish Congress
  • The Claims Conference had “blown close to $250 million on [educational research and documentation] projects in recent years, including grants to Board members which had nothing to do with survivor needs
    David Schachter
head of the Miami Holocaust Survivors Foundation
  • Can the Polish state be asked to compensate for heirless properties that accrued to it as the result of policies for which it was not responsible? Can the vastly depleted surviving Jewish community in Poland (some 6,000 today) be considered the legitimate heirs of a community of 3,300,000 before the war? By what right do non-Polish Jewish organizations, confident and experienced in their dealings, intervene in the internal Polish relations between the government and the weak local Jewish community?
    Ronald W. Zweig
Henry Taub Professor of Israel Studies, New York University
  • US State Department was still not at ease with extending the groups of Nazi victims – Poland and the other eastern European countries were precisely pursuing the recognition of non-Jewish forced labourers
    Constantin Goschler
Professor of Modern History at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany
  • More than three million Jews died in Poland and the Polish people are not going to be the heirs of the Polish Jews. We are never going to allow this…. They’re gonna hear from us until Poland freezes over again. If Poland does not satisfy Jewish claims it will be publicly attacked and humiliated
    Israel Singer
Former secretary general of the World Jewish Congress
  • I found a seething bitterness that their citizens (of post-Communist Eastern Europe), also Hitler’s victims, had never received compensation from the Germans comparable to the billions paid to Jewish Holocaust victims
    Stuart E. Eizenstat
Doctor of Jurisprudence, American diplomat, attorney and lead negotiator on the Claims Conference
